About this advice

At BIMA, we are passionate about keeping our Muslim community as healthy as possible. We are working with the NHS to raise awareness of some of the health conditions that are common in our community and what we can do to prevent them.

Issues like language barriers can make it feel like the NHS does not understand or meet our needs as a faith community. This can make it difficult access the services we need, or get the care that the NHS has in place to help prevent disease and keep us healthy. We believe that by working together we can improve health access, experience and outcomes for the Muslim community.

This leaflet explains how you can take action on your own health in five key NHS priority areas:

1. Cancer
2. Lung conditions
3. Blood pressure
4. Maternal health
5. Mental health
