British Muslim Health Awards 2026

The British Islamic Medical Association (BIMA) is proud to present the British Muslim Health Awards 2026, returning for a second year to celebrate the outstanding contributions of Muslim professionals across the UK’s health and care sectors.

Award Categories

Award Categories

The categories have been carefully designed to reflect the diversity of healthcare roles and contributions across the UK. They aim to recognise exceptional individuals and initiatives from across the full spectrum of health and care.

We welcome nominations for good work about Muslims, as well as good work by Muslims. Self-nominations are permitted. Nominees for most categories are meant to be for individuals. Some will also be applicable for lay community members, teams or institutions as per their description. We encourage nominations from those outside the Muslim community and the public sector.

All awards will be judged by an independent panel. The shortlisted names will be announced prior to the Awards and the winners will be honoured on the night.

Doctor of the Year

For an individual who has demonstrated compassionate and meaningful impact through values-led service.

Nurse of the Year

For an individual who has demonstrated compassionate and meaningful impact through values-led service.

Midwife of the Year

For an individual who has demonstrated compassionate and meaningful impact through values-led service.

Dentist of the Year

For an individual who has demonstrated compassionate and meaningful impact through values-led service.

Pharmacist of the Year

For an individual who has demonstrated compassionate and meaningful impact through values-led service.

Optometrist of the Year

For an individual who has demonstrated compassionate and meaningful impact through values-led service.

Allied Health Professional
of the Year

For an individual who has demonstrated compassionate and meaningful impact through values-led service.

Mental Health Professional
of the Year

For an individual who has demonstrated compassionate and meaningful impact through values-led service.

Public Health Practitioner
of the Year

For an individual who has demonstrated compassionate and meaningful impact through values-led service.

Chaplain of the Year

For an individual who has demonstrated compassionate and meaningful impact through values-led service.

Educator of the Year

For an outstanding contribution to learning, mentorship, or training in health and care.

Student of the Year

For an undergraduate student in any discipline of health and care who has shown exceptional promise and demonstrated early impact

Researcher of the Year

For a significant contribution in any field of research relating to health and care.

Humanitarian of the Year

For an outstanding contribution to health and care in crisis or underserved contexts, locally or globally.

Ally of the Year

For an exceptional effort by an individual outside the Muslim community in demonstrating solidarity with Muslim colleagues or in championing health equity for Muslim communities.

Mosque of the Year

For a mosque that is delivering outstanding health promotion, support, or outreach to address the health needs of their communities.

Faith Inclusion Initiative
of the Year

For a specific team or project that has delivered an impactful piece of faith inclusive work that benefits Muslim staff and/or service users

Rising Star Award*

For an early-career professional showing exceptional promise and leadership potential.

President’s Medal*

An exceptional contribution to health and care by any individual in any field.

Lifetime Achievement Award*

Honouring a career of service, leadership, or innovation in any field.

Digital & Life Sciences Award

For an outstanding contribution by a leader, team, or project utilising technology, biotechnology, or diagnostics to drive innovation and meaningfully improve healthcare access, delivery, or patient outcomes.

*These awards will be pre-selected rather than identified through judging nominations.
