Muslim Women Excelling in Islam and Medicine
The British Islamic Medical Association invites female doctors and medical students to a exclusive, not-to-be-missed event, the first of its kind in the UK, a gathering celebrating and bringing together Muslim female doctors working in this country!
Date and Time: Saturday March 22nd 2014, 10am – 6pm
Venue: University of Leicester, Attenborough Seminar Block, University Road, Leicester, LE1 7RH
- Ever been uncertain about how to balance your career with your deen?
- Not sure if training in ophthalmology will allow you to continue the charity work you’re passionate about?
- Not sure if general surgery training will allow you to continue being a diligent student of Arabic?
- Not sure if you’ll be able to balance a cardiology MD with your children and family life?
The challenges that Muslim women can face when it comes to practicing medicine and also when making career choices is unique. We may be deterred from fulfilling our professional ambitions out of fear of their impact on our other responsibilities as Muslim women.
Through this event the British Islamic Medical Association wishes to inspire female doctors and medical students, and send a message that it is possible to strive for excellence in your careers and fulfil your ambitions while still fulfilling responsibilities towards your families and faith. We will be giving senior doctors the opportunity to share their experiences and to advise juniors in a format that will hopefully earn them some meaningful continuing charity (sadaqah jariyah)!
