Why does mentorship matter?
We all need some form of guidance when it comes to making decisions, and your career choices are no different. The best advice comes from those who have once been in your position and have a similar background to you, as they will understand your needs and challenges better than anyone. This is what our mentorship scheme is for- pairing you with a Muslim healthcare professional from the same field and with similar interests. Using their experience in their career, they will guide you through the important decisions and milestones throughout the next year (and beyond)!
Who is mentorship for?
Any healthcare student or those from a science background looking to enter the healthcare field can apply. You can apply at any stage of your studies, from first year to final!
We have also opened up the opportunity for junior healthcare professionals to be mentored- if you are within three years of graduating, you can also sign up as a mentee (as well as a mentor)!
How will we match you and your mentor?
Our mentorship scheme works as a tiered matching system- which means certain factors will be looked at in increasing importance when it comes to finding the best mentor for you. These factors include:
– Gender
– Healthcare field/profession
– Career Interests- including research, education, public policy, MedTech and more!
– Other interests- including humanitarian work, Islamic studies, Hifz, advocacy and more!
– Region you study/work in
We also want to hear from you on what you are looking to get out of the scheme, and take this seriously in our matching process.
We aim to match people to their specifications as much as possible- although we cannot guarantee your mentor will meet all your requirements, we will ensure you have enough factors in common to develop a working relationship!
How can I apply?
Fill in the application form below- it should not take more than 5 minutes! Once the deadline has closed, we will process all the applications and begin matching.
We aim to release pairings by email by 15th January 2026, with communications organised between you and your mentor by the end of January 2026 inshaa Allah!

Why register as a mentor?
What does mentorship involve?
Mentorship is a fantastic opportunity for healthcare professionals at any stage of their training to get involved in. Having been through the arduous process of studying, sitting exams and attending placement, you all have something valuable to pass on to the next generation of HCPs!
A mentor acts as a guide for the mentee through the next milestones of their career, within the lens as a Muslim working in healthcare. We tailor mentoring to your career interests, matching you with a mentee(s) who have a similar mindset to provide maximal benefit and useful advice.
Depending on capacity, you may have between 1-3 mentees assigned to you. Based on our experience with matching and feedback from previous mentors, we have limited the number of mentees to 3 to ensure there is enough time for you as a mentor to provide guidance to them.
Who can mentor?
Any healthcare professional (HCP) can mentor, at any stage in your training/career!
We aim to match you with a mentee closest in training to you. For example, if you are a newly graduated HCP, you will be paired with a student, whereas if you are a well-established professional you will be paired with a junior HCP.
What will I gain from this?
Alongside gaining formal recognition for your efforts as a mentor from BIMA, this is a great opportunity to refine your communication and teaching skills, but more importantly, allows you to be a means of benefitting the next generation of Muslim healthcare professionals.
Mu’adh ibn Anas reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever imparts knowledge will have the reward of whoever acted upon it, without detracting from the reward of one who acted.” (Sahih, Sunan Ibn Mājah 240)
The reward you gain from participating in this initiative not only lies in the guidance you provide to your mentee(s), but the lives they save and benefit they bring to the community in the future!

We will invite all mentors to an induction session mid-January to outline further the responsibilities of being a mentor, as well as hearing from previous mentors about their experience!
