A recent article published in The BMJ highlights the ongoing issues of racism and Islamophobia in the NHS, particularly in the aftermath of the racist riots of the summer of 2024. It draws on key findings from our recent BIMA survey on the experiences of Muslim healthcare professionals in the immediate aftermath of the violence. Workplace discrimination, safety issues, and the lack of institutional support are all significant, and ongoing, concerns.  We critically need stronger anti-racism policies, improved reporting systems, and more proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of all healthcare professionals.
