BIMA opposes the involvement of Palantir Technologies in managing core NHS data systems. Improving NHS data matters, but who we trust with it matters just as much. Palantir’s links to military, intelligence and surveillance work, including reported partnerships connected to Israel’s Ministry of Defence during the Gaza crisis, raise serious ethical concerns.

The NHS runs on public trust. Handing over sensitive health data to a company with these associations risks undermining that trust, especially given past issues with NHS data handling. BIMA is calling for this contract to be reconsidered. We also back the position of the British Medical Association, which has warned about risks to patient trust and advised doctors to limit engagement with the NHS Federated Data Platform.
