We are thrilled to share the success of our recent community event, aimed at creating awareness about organ donation and its permissibility in Islam.

This thought-provoking gathering, organised by the North East and North Cumbria Renal Network, in partnership with the British Islamic Medical Association (BIMA) and NHS Blood and Transplant, took place last month at the prestigious Newcastle Eagles Vertu Motors Arena.

The primary focus of the event was to shed light on the organ donation inequity faced by ethnic minorities, particularly within the Muslim community. Esteemed Muslim scholars and healthcare professionals took the stage, engaging the audience in informative talks and panel discussions. Their insightful presentations aimed to educate and dispel misconceptions surrounding organ donation within Islamic teachings.

One of the highlights of the event was the premiere of the “Save a Life, Save Humanity” film, a joint production by BIMA and NHS Blood and Transplant. This powerful educational video touched the hearts of attendees, emphasizing the importance of organ donation and its potential to save countless lives.

Throughout the event, participants had the opportunity to interact with speakers and experts, asking pertinent questions and seeking guidance on organ donation’s permissibility according to Islamic principles. The thoughtful discussions brought clarity and understanding, encouraging many to consider the significance of registering as organ donors and becoming potential lifesavers.

The event also served as a platform to raise awareness of the disparities in organ donation and transplantation within ethnic minority communities. By addressing this pressing issue, we hope to pave the way for improved access to life-saving treatments for those in need.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who attended, as well as the sponsors, partners, and volunteers who made this event possible. Your support played a crucial role in spreading awareness and fostering a sense of community around this vital cause.

If you were unable to join us at the event, we encourage you to explore the information shared and continue the conversation within your circles. Together, we can make a positive impact and bridge the gap in organ donation equity.

By working together, we can create a society where the gift of life through organ donation knows no boundaries.

Let us continue this journey of compassion, understanding, and hope as we strive for a healthier and more inclusive future for all.

Thank you for being part of this significant event!
