BIMA’s End of Life (EOL) Team attended the 8th Annual Conference of National Burial Council (NBC), which took place in Blackburn on 24th September 2023.
The team used the opportunity to network with various stakeholders from across the country and discuss the latest developments and guidance regarding death certification, end of life care, and burials.
The team members met and spoke to the National Medical Examiner, Dr Alan Fletcher, Chief Coroner HH Judge Thomas Teague QC and Chairman of NBC, Mr Mohamed Omer, amongst other notable dignitaries.
Medical Examiner’s scrutiny of Medical Certificate for the Cause of Death (MCCD) will become a legal requirement  from April 2024.
The EOL team invited Medical Examiners, Death Registrars, Out of Hours Service Providers and Coroners to work collectively by joining efforts to minimise potential delays the new legislation is likely to bring to timely burials.
