BIMA is part of a wider BAME & Allies Healthcare Professionals Coalition, bringing together healthcare professionals and organisations concerned with how the Mann Review may be implemented across the NHS.
We support robust action against antisemitism, Islamophobia and all forms of racism. But implementation must be fair, evidence-based and inclusive, with meaningful engagement with affected staff and communities.
We are particularly concerned about implementation before wider engagement, the use of the IHRA definition in disciplinary processes, existing inequalities affecting racialised healthcare professionals, and the need to protect due process, freedom of conscience and lawful political expression.
Our new Staff Engagement Toolkit explains what is happening and provides practical questions you can ask your NHS organisation.
