Community Health Days

We believe everyone deserves the knowledge and resources needed to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. That’s why we partner with the NHS to host our annual Community Health Days, empowering individuals and families to take charge of their health, especially as winter approaches.

These day-long events, held in welcoming mosques and community centres across major UK cities, transcend simple health checks and leaflets. We create a relaxed and culturally sensitive setting where attendees can engage directly with local healthcare professionals.

Beyond Checkups and Leaflets

BIMA’s Community Health Days provide tailored guidance through direct interaction with local healthcare professionals. Doctors and specialists answer individual questions and address specific concerns about prevalent conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and mental health. This personalised approach ensures attendees receive relevant information and support directly impacting their well-being.

Protecting Families through Winter

Recognising the importance of preventative measures, BIMA prioritises vaccinations and jabs. The events encourage and provide information on crucial vaccinations for flu, COVID-19, measles, and other preventable diseases. This focus ensures families are equipped to safeguard their health throughout the winter months, reducing the risk of illness and promoting stronger immunity.

Respecting Faith and Culture

Understanding the significance of faith-based considerations, BIMA partners with experts who offer culturally sensitive advice. Attendees can receive guidance on halal dietary choices and address concerns related to vaccine safety from an Islamic perspective. This inclusive approach demonstrates respect for cultural values and fosters trust within the community.

More Than Just Healthcare

BIMA’s Community Health Days extend beyond merely delivering basic healthcare services. They serve as a platform to build trust, fostering open communication between healthcare professionals and community members. By hosting events in familiar spaces like mosques, BIMA creates a welcoming environment that encourages dialogue and understanding.

Bridging the Gap

Recognising the potential disconnect between clinical expertise and the community, BIMA strives to bridge the gap. The events provide accessible information, dispelling myths and misconceptions surrounding health topics, particularly among underserved groups. This initiative ensures everyone has the knowledge and tools they need to make informed decisions about their health.

Empowerment through Knowledge

Ultimately, BIMA empowers individuals and families with the knowledge and resources they need to take charge of their well-being. Through open dialogue, tailored guidance, and culturally sensitive advice, attendees gain the tools to navigate the healthcare system confidently and make informed choices about their health.

Measurable Impact

The positive impact of these events is evident in increased awareness about various health topics, leading to better self-care and preventative measures. Improved health outcomes are achieved through early detection and management of health concerns identified during screenings and consultations. BIMA also fosters enhanced trust and engagement with healthcare services by encouraging open communication and addressing cultural sensitivities.
